General

How is the situation in your city/ country? Is there a 2nd wave yet?
Unfortunately the situation here in Brazil seems to be getting worse every day. The number of cases keeps growing daily (in my city we have about 25.000 cases). Some people are developing a huge fear of the virus and others are getting depressed at home at fear of the virus. The second wave has not arrived yet.

How did the atmosphere in your country change within the last months?
In fact, I didn’t notice a difference in my city and I didn’t read anything about the rest of the country.

How are you and your family?
We are fine. 🙂

What was the biggest challenge for you within the last months?
Spend about 14h per day in front of the computer. My teachers have been demanding a lot more from the students since we started online classes.

Measures

When did you realize how serious the situation is?
About March.

How did your government react to the crisis? Which measures/restrictions were taken first?
This is the one of the biggest problems in Brazil. Our president has done the worst possible and he even made fun about it. Because of that each city and region acts as they think is correct.

Are you satisfied with the measures of your government? What was good/bad?
I am getting tired of staying at home and see that the situation is not improving.

What would you like to say to your government?
DO SOMETHING!

Which sentence of a virologist/politician did you memorize the most?
Bolsonaro: ‘É só uma gripezinha’ (It’s just a flu’)

Our president has done the worst possible and he even made fun about it.

The Virus

Do you know anybody who was infected with COVID-19 or even died?
I know people who were infected by the virus.

Have you already done a Coronavirus test or have you been in quarantine?
No, I didn’t.

Are you afraid of getting infected with the Coronavirus?
No, I am not.

I know people who were infected by the virus.

The lockdown

How long is/was your lockdown and what was allowed/what wasn´t?
In my city the quarantine started in March and is still going on and the lockdown lasted 14 days.

Did you spend the lockdown time with somebody and what did you do during this time?
I spend time with my family and I have time just to work and study.

What did you miss the most during the lockdown? What helped you?
Time to do anything other than work or study. So far nothing helped me

In my city the quarantine started in March and is still going on.

Changes

How did your work situation change within the last months (shorter hours, working from home, etc.)
I am working from home.

How did your social life (relationship/friendships/dating) change due to the Corona crisis?
Yes, I only saw my friends by the internet.

What impact has the Corona crisis on your financial situation?
My father’s salary will be reduced by double the time that quarantine lasts. And I think soon I will be fired because the amount of work has decreased a lot.

Social distancing: How does your daily life look like at the moment?
I respect social distancing and go out only to do what is essential.

I think soon I will be fired because the amount of work has decreased a lot.

Perception

Who are to your opinion the heroes of this crisis?
I think there are no heroes.

What did the crisis show you?
Many things. That friends and family are an important part of my life; that it is important to have a hobby and that the president of Brazil is able to show how bad he is every day.

What will you appreciate more after the crisis?
Travel. I want to travel so badly!

Which images will you never forget?
None in particular.

Which stories/incidents/experiences touched/shattered you the most?
None.

I think there are no heroes.

Perspective

What are you afraid of right now?
The political crisis in Brazil.

What gives you hope?
That one day we will be a better country than we are today, even if it happens 500 years from now.

Are you planning to travel within the next months?
YES!

If they find a vaccine, would you take it?
I am not sure.

What can we all learn from this crisis?
That we have, and we are able, to be strong.

If you could give 2020 a headline, what would it be?
Fasten your seat belts.

One day we will be a better country than we are today.
