When 60 percent of your friends had Covid and two of them died

I was possibly the first person around my inner group of family and friends to sound the alarms and most everyone called me an alarmist and paranoid. I lost two friends and know of many relatives of friends who died, I would say that 60 percent of my friends had Covid, all in different manners some very bad and some barely sick. I am terribly scared of getting infected and more so because of the longterm effects. I now have received my second vaccine two weeks ago, but I will still continue wearing a mask and limiting my exposure. Read more

When the biggest challenge is learning to accept the new normal

Right now the situation in Miami is starting to get bad again. At one point during the quarantine, we were considered the most infected city in the world, being the epicenter for the disease. Three good friends lost one of their parents. I was very sad to see them devastated by the fact that they couldn’t properly say good bye. Their parents died alone in a hospital. We were in lockdown for at least 6 months. We really decided to go full force on it. We stayed at home, and never left. Read more

Living in the epicenter of the pandemic

United States is the epicenter of the pandemic with over 180,000 deaths and my home town of Miami is one of the worst hotspots in the country. We need more and faster tests, a system of contact tracing to measure outbreaks, and a PSA campaign on the need to wear masks. Read more
